Our Organic Method
Being able to say that we are organic means that we have certain standards (pun intended) for our vines, soil, pest and weed control, and how we take care of our animals.
We work hard to improve our soil quality in many ways. We are in a valley surrounded by chemical free hills deep in the hill country of Texas. That means all of the best nutrients from the tops of the hills flow to our vineyard in the valley with each rain. We then collect the rainwater in a collection tank to water the grapes.
Sheep and chickens graze the vineyard providing organic, naturally occurring fertilizer. Our chickens also serve as the vineyard pest control while they roam the vineyard. The chickens and sheep are fed by grazing the land along with certified organic feed.
Certified organic compost is spread throughout the vineyard annually, with our compost spreader designed and built ourselves ensuring our soil is fresh and full of nutrients that keep the vines healthy and thriving.
We remove all of the weeds by hand and spend hours looking at each plant to decide what vines need to be pruned and when it needs to happen.
By implementing these practices, we are able to organically grow and produce grapes with no added chemicals, making it a healthier way to enjoy wine.
